Cogeneration

Do you have a high demand for both electricity and heat? Take care of energy efficiency and the planet. See how cogeneration works.

Cogeneration is the production of heat and electricity in a single technological process. With cogeneration, less fuel is used to produce the same amount of electricity and heat than when they are produced separately. Depending on the actual heat demand, we select appropriate technological solutions: engine, HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator), steam-turbine system, organic Rankine cycle (ORC) or cooperation with a cooling production system (trigeneration).
The electrical capacities range from several kW to 50 MW.

Who is it for?

CHP is the solution for you if:

  • you consume at least 10 000 GJ of heat
  • your electricity demand for most of the year exceeds 500 kW
  • you participate in the ETS (CO2 Emissions Trading Scheme)
  • you are concerned about energy security and do not want to rely solely on external suppliers

Benefits

Savings: you will reduce the costs associated with purchasing electricity and heat. You will notice the result right away, and the entire investment will pay for itself in about 5 years.

Security: greater cost stability and increased efficiency of electricity and heat supply.

The ecological solution: more efficient use of fuel will result in less CO2 being released into the atmosphere.

Heat source: gas cogeneration acts as a local heat source.

Subsidies: two support mechanisms are available starting in 2019:

  • < 1 MWe: guaranteed bonus - ongoing recruitment
  • ≥ 1 MWe: auction system - auctions held every quarter

Simple implementation: minimal intervention in the infrastructure on a plug-and-play basis, possibility of working for your own needs or selling energy to the network.
