About Us

Dalkia Polska Energia S.A. is one of the main providers of energy services in the Silesian-Dąbrowa conurbation.

Extensive experience

As an operator of energy systems and energy efficiency services, we have extensive experience in recovering mine gas and transforming it into a grid fuel, system heat. We generate, transfer, and distribute heat for central heating and hot water in Katowice, Sosnowiec, Mysłowice and Ruda Śląska. Heat production takes place in 5 heating plants and 6 combined heat and power plants. Our heat is supplied to numerous institutions, industrial plants, educational and service-commercial facilities, as well as to thousands of households in the Silesia-Dąbrowa region.

Technical Infrastructure

Production departments, heat networks and heat substations located in Katowice, Mysłowice, Sosnowiec and Ruda Śląska - this is our technical infrastructure.

The total capacity of all sources at our disposal is for thermal power 576 MWt and for installed electrical power: 15.88 MWe.

We have 12 heat sources (including 8 boiler plants and 4 combined heat and power plants). A total of 40 boilers are installed at all sources, including 7 steam boilers and 33 water boilers.

We are developing for you

As a fuel we use: hard coal and gas from demethanation of mines, there is also a possibility to use natural gas.

Four combined heat and power (CHP) plants operate gas engines (10 in number) to produce electricity and heat in cogeneration, which are fuelled by gas from mine demethylation and natural gas. The total electrical power of these engines is: 15.88 MW.

We have started a project to transform our energy mix. We assume that by 2024, 55% of energy at Dalkia Polska Energia will be produced from sources other than coal.

We are reducing CO2

At our plant in Mysłowice we have started to build 3MWe and 3MWt gas engines. They will replace coal-based units, ensuring heat supply for 26 thousand inhabitants of Mysłowice.

At the same time, we are modernising boilers to reduce CO2 emissions and pollutants into the atmosphere. These measures will reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 35,000 tons per year.

Always a better atmosphere

As part of the investment project at the Wesoła site, we are looking to upgrade the existing CHP with the addition of 2 x 1.5 MWe mine methane gas engines (CMMs) and one new power line to be commissioned in the first half of 2022. The planned effect of these changes is to reduce CO2 emissions by 89,000 tons per year and use methane from coal mining, which will reduce the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere by 5.3 million NHM3/year.
