OI MANUFACTURING – Béziers

A “turnkey” solution to optimise media production for a glass manufacturing plant.

France

Challenge

Built in 2000, the OI Manufacturing site in Béziers is one of the largest and most modern glass bottle production facilities in the south of France.

Its furnace capacity is 500 tonnes of molten glass per day. A “turnkey” solution including design, installation, and operation along with financing is required to optimise media production and guarantee 24/7 service continuity.

Solution

A 10-year commitment has been made by Dalkia to provide the plant with 4b hot compressed air, 7b cold air, vacuum, cooling and WCT, water treatment, HV electricity and steam with adherence to operating parameters.

As such, Dalkia is undertaking technical and energy engineering works, including the provision of a feed station, designed in phase with the load curve and back-up equipment. To ensure safe and efficient operation and to significantly reduce the storage of hazardous chemical products, Dalkia recommended and designed an in-situ electrolyser. Implemented global equipment surveillance, with redundancy and a temporary predictive maintenance process with thermographic analysis, vibration analysis, water, oil analysis, etc. Dalkia ensured the resilience of the plant for liquids for short breaks and production flexibility in line with the customer's load curve.

Tasked of Dalkia consisted of managing the constructors and fitters for the construction of the power plant, replacing cascade modules of generators and compressors but also was responsible for the financial assembly of the investment (Dalkia provided full financing for the power plant).

Benefits

  • Construction of new power station
